A soft roe of sea bream白子ポン酢

How do you eat a soft roe in your country or do you eat soft roe? I love soft roe and it’s yummy in winter. We eat it with Japanese sake usually.
I found a soft roe of sea bream in the supermarket today. It tell me the winter has coming soon. Japanese people cook soft roe with hot pot meal called “Nabe鍋” or sometimes with “Ponzuポン酢” it’s a seasoning made from vinegar and juice from a bitter citrus fruits.
I ate a soft roe of sea bream with Ponzu tonight, it’s so milky and match with sake so much. I am going to share how to cook it today!

As you know, Japanese people like raw food like sashimi it’s a slice of raw fish, Japanese pickled vegetables and we often eat raw egg for TKG for Tamago Kake Gohan卵かけご飯!! First let me tell you about TKG here because it’s delicious and easy to cook! You can eat egg raw which is sold in the Japanese supermarket. You put a raw egg on some steamed rice and pour some soy sauce on them and just eat!! It’s soooo yummy! You can add some toasted seaweed or grilled salmon too as you like. My kids often eat it for the breakfast.

Today I’m gonna share Shirako Ponze白子ポン酢 that a soft roe of sea bream with Ponzu is almost rare. Sometimes we eat raw soft roe! Raw soft Roe! You can eat raw it if it’s extremely fresh though. I boiled them a little today…
Anyway you sprinkle salt on the soft roe a little and wait 10 minutes to remove soil and slime.

After waiting 10 minutes, you wash them with water.

Next you cut them as size you like.

You boil some water and add some Japanese sake on it. And you boil the soft roe on the boiling water for just 2 minutes.

You pull them out from the boiling water and you season with Ponzu. I added some juice of Sudachiすだち which is Japanese citrus and some rock salt.

How can you see it? Do you like it? This is my dinner today! I was so happy to eat them with my family. It tastes very creamy like butter and whip cream but refreshing. It’s bouncy and springy like a slime! You feel it disagreeable don’t you? But let’s try it someday, you may like it!

I ate Tuna too tonight! We have some brand tuna in Japan. A bluefin tune from Ooma大間 is expensive here.
