There are so many MacDonalds around the world and everyone should have eaten it once I guess. In addition there are some limited time burgers for each countries.
We have the Chicken tatsuta burger in Japan these days for a limited period.
Chicken tatsuta
The chicken tatsuta is like a fried chicken and one of the typical Japanese food. It’s seasoned with soy sauce, ginger and sweet rice sake. After coating with potato starch, deep fry it. It’s very similar to fried chicken but tastes ginger and more crispy than fried chicken because of the potato starch.
Chicken Tatsuta Burger
A limited edition chicken tatsuta burger was released for the first time in 1991 in Japan. The soft tatsuta patty seasoned with soy sauce and ginger flavor, and some thin-sliced cabbages with creamy little spicy sauce are sandwiched between the original soft buns with slight sweet taste.
Chicken Tatsuta Burger with Yuzu flavor
Another limited edition burger is the chicken tatsuta burger with Yuzu Flavor. This hamburger is a chicken tatsuta burger with crunchy texture of grated Japanese white radish seasoned with some citrus fruits. You can taste sweet and salty for the chicken tatauta, feel crispy texture for thin-sliced cabbage and taste a little bit sour for the citrus fruits! You might not have had like the taste anything before!! In addition it’s just 401kcal!
The rice burger
You can buy the rice burger after 17:00 in Japan at MacDonalds, of curse there’s the rice chicken tatsuta burger as well. The rice burger’s fillings are same to the other burgers but the buns are made from rice. The rice buns shapes into a circle and pressed down a little bit hard so that it’s easy to hold and eat.
Collaboration with One Piece
Japanese MacDonalds has teamed up with One Piece for the new limited period products these days.
One piece is one of the famous Japanese comic book around world. Have you ever read them?
The story follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, where he explores the Grand Line in search of the mythical treasure known as the “One Piece” in order to become the next King of the Pirates.

Because of collaborating with One Piece, the packages of the chicken tatsuta burger are designed with the drawing of One Piece characters.
There is a typical drawing in One Piece that is written and illustrated by Oda Eiichiro 尾田栄一郎. He often uses onomatopoeia in One Piece like “Booooon!”
Also you can find the this kind of onomatopoeia in the package of MacDonalds.
It’s so interesting and funny because it’s not onomatopoeia, it’s just written “Oroshi”. It means just a grated Japanese white radish!! However it seems like onomatopoeia if you have read One Piece once before.
Summary
There are some Japanese original menu at MacDonalds and I recommend you to try the soft serve ice cream there. It’s very rich and mild! I like to dip french fries in to the ice cream corn. When you come to Japan, you can enjoy Japanese MacDonalds too!!
