Local Airports
Japan is long to north from south so that there are many local airports, and major international airports with overseas flites are 5. Therea are local foods or local restaurants in each airport. For example, Hokkaido is well known for delicious ramen so there are many ramen restaurants at Shinchitose airport. And it’s also famous for fresh sea food. Many fresh seafood Bento are sold at the airport.
Bento
Bento is a Japanese-style packed meal, typically served in a box. It is convenient and delicious. There are many ingredients in it so that it’s a balanced and healthy meal! Bento is convenient to carry, Japanese people usually bring Bent to the school or office.
Bento is sold at the airport as well. How come? Because it can be enjoyed during a flight. Moreover, there are so many kinds of Bento there such as Rice ball Bento, Sandwich Bento, fried chicken Bento or Sushi Bento.
Sushi
Sushi is not only California roll. Actually, Japanese people don’t eat California roll in Japan so much. Salmon or tuna sushi are well known for foreign people all over the world. There are also buttle ship sushi, scattered sushi, hand-rolled sushi and more. What they have in common is using fresh seafoods and rice!
Let me share one of the famous and delicious Sushi Bento from Hokkaido.
Sato-Suisan 佐藤水産
Sato-Suisan is a company based in Hokkaido sells fresh seafoods and seafood meals. It has a shop in Shinchitose airport as well. Big Onigiri called rice ball and seafood Bento is famous from Sato-Suisan in the airport. There are fresh salmon, octopus, sea urchin, salmon roe, crab meat on top of the rice in the Bento. You can enjoy several seafoods from one meal and they are so fresh and tasty. The rice is seasoned with vinegar and it’s chill but the rice is soft. The rice great goes well with the seafoods. A packed soy sauce is included but it doesn’t need, the seafoods and rice are delicious even without adding it. The Bento is not too big, it’s just right to take into the cabin with your baggage and just right size on the table in front of your seat on the plane. You can enjoy tasting the Bento and flight! Of course, the chopsticks and a wet towel are included.
