There are three big convenience store companies in Japan such as Seven Eleven, Family Mart and Lawson. Japanese convenience stores are called “Konbini コンビニ” in Japanese, and the Japanese name is well known for other country’s people. Because they are so much useful and special. They have each own brand. One of them sells some clothes, another sells freshly cooked meal and more.
The most attractive point of Japanese convenience stores is a wide variety of products. They sell many kinds of drinks, freshly ground coffee, fruits, salad, bread, rice ball, main meal like Hamburg stake and pasta, snacks, authentic sweets, books, condiments, medicine, stationeries and more. What a marvelous!

They launch innovative sweets regularly and some of them turn into hot topics. Their sweets are delicious and look great. The taste is comparable to that of a bakery. Furthermore, sweets from Konbini are reasonable than bakery’s, they are around 300 yen!

Pudding with Castella

Let me share a confection from Seven Eleven Japan. It’s a pudding with castella, it has launched May 21st, 2025.

First, a pudding in Japan is custard pudding and it’s smooth and creamy. Pudding is often placed in the same category as cakes in Japan.
And castella is a popular Japanese sponge cake made with sugar, flour, eggs and starch syrup. These days, super fluffy and jiggly castella has been very popular here.

Pudding with Castella from Seven Eleven, as the name suggests, pudding and castella are in a cap. And whipped cream and honey sauce are on top!

The castella makes a fizzy popping sound when you coop it with a spoon as the bubbles burst! The castella is extremely fluffy and fizzy! Moreover, the pudding is rich and thick like custard cream! Can you imagine it? It’s super delicious!
