“Oshi-Katsu 推し活” is the activities for people who love some musicians, anime, pop idols and any favorites. Japanese Fav activities are characteristic of Japan, and it’s often featured on TV.
Let’s check Japanese Oshi-Katsu! It’s interesting!
Activities
TV, social media, Live performance
Pop idols, musicians and anime characters provide a variety of content such as releasing a new song, appearing on TV, holding a live concert, or appearing in a TV Commercial. They often act in a Movie and drama as well. Some pop idols and musicians have their own TV show or online streaming channel. You can check them easily and be happy! However, it has still not “Oshi-Katsu”. It’s just you LIKE them.
Let me talk about Japanese pop idols. At their live concert, they sell hand fans which is printed their face. People buy their favorite fan. Enthusiastic supporters make a decorated fan with some message for the concert.
They make cheering goods by themselves not only the fan but also charm, pin badge or character plush.

Go after
When pop idols or musicians are cast in a commercial for a product, their poster or panel are lined up at the supermarkets, the stations and in the trains. Big fans visit there to see the panels with the character plush. They take a picture the panel including the stuffed toy and post it on social media. Of course, they buy the products and post it as well.
Fan Meet-and-Greet
Some pop idols hold a fan interaction event. Fan wait in line for several hours and meet the idol for a few minutes. Some fans set up a meeting which is a place to talk about the idol among several fans without the idol. They sometimes celebrate the idol’s birthday.

Post information about Oshi
“Oshi 推し” means the one you support. Big fans use unique phrases.
Fans post some Oshi information on social media, and some audience contact them and sometimes they visit a concert together. A post sometimes faces an online backlash. It becomes harder to win the concert ticket in the lottery as the group gets more successful. Someone posts that they got a thicket, someone who didn’t win the ticket gets green with envy. Furthermore, fan activities can be expensive. It was featured on TV that big fans use their almost all money for fan activities so that it’s difficult to eat every meal. They’d rather spend money on their Oshi-Katsu than on their food. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that their jobs exist to fund their Oshi-Katsu.

Summary
What was the differences about Oshi-Katsu between your country and Japan? Is there Oshi-Katsu in your country? I don’t know exactly about the passion of big fans but the activities must be interesting and feel so happy!
