Foods in EXPO
EXPO limited foods are sold at EXPO. For example, Hokkahokka-tei ほっかほっか亭 is Japanese boxed meal shop and the shops are all over Japan. However usual menu is not sold at EXPO Hokkahokka-tei. The EXPO menu is more gorgeous, and for people from foreign countries. Hokkaihokkai-tei is a Japanese food shops but we don’t eat such a gorgeous meal in our ordinary days.

Furthermore, the foods at kitchen car are very expensive compared to the almost same meal that is sold at a Japanese theme park such as Disney Resort or Universal Studio Japan. A Chicken leg with dip sauce is 2,000 yen at the EXPO but it’s sold less than half price at a theme park.

The foods at food court are relatively reasonable. There are Thai food, pizza, breads and some Japanese menus such as sushi, and ramen. Advance reservations for seats at the food court are available. It’s 500 yen per seat. If you’d like to take a seat certainly, it’s better to reserve the seats.

Onigiri
Onigiri has been very popular these days in Japan even for Japanese. Onigiri is a rice ball, it shapes circle or triangle. It contains some fillings such as Japanese salted plum or grilled salmon. The outside the rice ball is coated with a little bit salt. Usually, it’s covered with dried seaweed. Some restaurants are particular about the rice, salt and the way to make the form the rice.

Ultimate Onigiri
PACKN-TO is in Osaka healthcare pavilion at EXPO. They sell ultimate onigiri. It’s a special salted onigiri.

Any filling is not contained in the ultimate onigiri. You can taste just rice and salt. It is just the right texture- not too hard, not too soft. It’s perfectly balanced rice ball. The steamed rice is delicious and it’s at body temperature. Surprisingly the salt is savory and perfect. It has large, coarse grains. It’s not too much salty but savory!

They serve you a bag contains extra salt. You can add salt if you want after eating.
