Cherry Blossoms-Viewing Party

Japanese people love to have a party under the cherry blossoms during the spring. It’s a traditional custom and it’s a quiet party. It’s not like dancing and listening to music. We enjoy breathtaking cherry blossoms, taking, drinking and eating with friends and family! It’s also called “Hanami” in Japanese. Some food stands are opened in a big park during the cherry blossom season.

Some kinds of cherry blossoms

There are some kinds of cherry blossoms here. There are pale pink color cherry blossoms or dark pink one.

Unbelievably, the weeping cherry blossoms are so much elegant and beautiful. It’s nostalgic. It’s worth seeing when you visit Japan during the spring.
Many cherry blossoms grow along the river. The scenery that cherry blossoms grow on both river sides is breathtaking! This is the Japanese spring!

Real Japanese Hanami

As I mentioned, we have a traditional custom that is a party under the cherry blossoms and drink, eat and viewing cherry blossoms. It’s like a picnic. I went to see cherry blossoms with my kids but it’s not like a traditional cherry blossom-viewing party. We just brought some rice balls and juice. We sat on the park bench and ate the rice balls. After eating, my kids were playing in the park! They didn’t see the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom so much. They just enjoyed picnic and playing outside! This is one of the real Japanese cherry blossoms viewing party.

Summary

The cherry blossoms are full bloom in Tokyo and Osaka starts at the end of March and continues until the middle of April. It starts earlier in Okinawa and starts slower in Hokkaido because of the latitude. Hokkaido is located in north of Japan, but on the contrary, Okinawa is located in south of Japan. You need to be careful when you visit Japan and where you visit. There are four seasons here, and Japan is narrow west to east and long north to south.
