glico that is a Japanese company sells snakcs, ice creams, yogults and more. POCKY is one of the most famous snack from glico. It’s like a between pretzel and cookie, shapes like a thin stick! It’s covered with chocolate but the lower part of it isn’t put anything to hold it with your finger. Your finger doesn’t get dirty with chocolate. The texture is curunchy and it’s sweet but a bit salty.
Anyway, why the name sounds strange? The reason is from the texture. When you eat POCKY, it pops and makes the cracking sound. Japanese hear the sound like “Poki poki”. Because they named it POCKY from the sond. POCKY sonunds weird for English speaker so that POCKY called MIKADO in some countries.
