What comes to mind when you think of Japanese foods? Sushi? Ramen? Have you ever heard of fish cakes?

People say Japanese foods are healthy and exquisite. Actually Japanese foods are made from healthy ingredients such as fish, and thye are not oily. In addition Japanese people are perticular about the appearance of foods. Japanees people are also picky about the color of dish. For example, they often cook boxed lunch, there are many colorful foods in it such as tomato for red, broccoli for green, steamed rice for white and more.
Fish cake
Japanese people have been eating fish cakes from long time ago. It’s a little salty and rubbery. It’s made of minced fish. Seasoning minced fish with salt and other condiments, then knead them sufficiently. The minced fish will be roasted or steamed or deep dried or boiled. The name will be changed depends on the cooking method. I’m going to share the steamed fish cake.
Kamaboko
Kamaboko is one of the steamed fish cakes. It’s lined up in any Japanese supermarkets and it has many forms. There is a Kamaboko that shapes like a fancy character, but it usually shapes semicylindrical and it’s on a plank. Inside a Kamaboko colors white and the outside of it is pink or green.
For Japanese people, red and white are auspicious color so that Kamaboko is eaten in New year in Japan. Have you ever heard about NARUTO? NARUTO is also one of the Kamaboko with a spiral whirlpool-like pattern colored red and white. It’s on a good-old ramen in Japan.
Kamaboko is usually thin sliced when you eat. It’s already a little salty and tastes fish, but some people dip it just a tiny bit in soy sauce. The texture is like rubbery and elastic. But it’s so much delicious and healthy because it’s mede of fish. The texture will be catchy for you! It goes well with rice and also goes great with beer!

Japanese foods are not only sushi or ramen but also Kamaboko! It’s simillar to surimi. Surimi is also made of fish and originated in Japan. You might find Kamaboko in Japanese convenience stores so that you can enjoy it easily when you visit Japan!
