Many people visit Japan these days for sightseeing or shopping. People had searched about Japan such as sightseeing spots or hotels in their country and came to Japan. However, they would be surprised many tiny things after visiting Japan.
I share some things what foreign people says that they are unexpected!

Clean everywhere

People say that towns, supermarkets, restaurants, even streets, parks in Japan are very clean. There are few litters on streets in Japan, cleaners clean many times. Even toilets are so clean.

Hospitality

When you visit a restaurant, you would be surprised. Clerks treat you as though you are a princess. They are so much courteous. They are famous for the courteous customer service.

Fresh and clean groceries

You should go to grocery stores in Japan. The fruits, vegetables, fishes are lined up so nicely and they are very fresh. There are no bugs in the grocery stores!

Slurping sounds

This is the most surprising thing for not Japanese people. When Japanese people eat noodles, they make slurping sounds. The sounds make us feel delicious. At the ramen restaurants, there are full of slurping sounds.

Credit card

A few shops in Japan are not compatible with credit cards, they are compatible only cash. You need to confirm the restaurant you go are compatible with credit cards before entering the restaurant. Even small grocery stores only accept cash. Almost all convenience stores and hotels accept credit cards.

No Wi-Fi

Many Japanese restaurants or facilities are not free wi-fi. Of course, many hotels or big shopping malls have free wi-fi here. The global shops such as Starbucks have wi-fi.

Auto toilet

Japanese toilets are very clean and advanced. We have a machine called Washlet in the toilette. The water splash from the toilet and clean up your bottom.
Some toilets open their cover automatically and flush automatically when you stand up.

Tap water

Japanese tap water is safe to drink. You can use the Japanese tap water for cooking, of course you can drink it directly.

A wet towel and a glass of water

When you go to a restaurant and take a seat, the staff serves you a wet towel and a glass of water before ordering anything. The wet towel and the glass of water are free, the towel is for wiping your hands before eating. You can get water as much as you want for free.

You might look at some people hand out packets of tissues on the streets in Japan. You can get them, it’s free. Some adverts in it, but you can take it away and can use the tissues!

Summary

Some strange things might exist more and more in Japan for not Japanese people. It might be good or might be not good. But the differences between your country and Japan are very interesting! Come to Japan and find the difference!
