Torahige a traditional toy of Japan

What is a traditional toy in your country?
When I was young, I play Origami, dolls, cat’s cradle, card game, jumping rope, tag, hide-and-seek and more. I used to play pretend dinner with my friends using origami that makes a cup, plate, and fruits by origami. Origami is not only fold but also cut and tape.

Anyway we have Pop-Up Pirate game.

Do you have this kind of toy in your country? And Have you played this?
A pirate jump out from a hole in a middle of cask when you stab the slit with the knife toy. There are many slits around the cask but one of them is a strike to fly out the pirate. You must be excited even if you are adult.

Once more I share how to play this game.
1 You set a pirate to push it in the cask.
2 You turn him in the cask handling his head.
3 You stick with a sword into a slit in order.
4 You lose when the pirate jumps out.

As you see there are a lot of knives yellow, red, blue and green. If you play 4 people, each you chose one color any color you want. But if you don’t play 4, the color doesn’t make sense I guess.

I tried to play the pop-up-pirate game last night with my husband for the first time in a while.　 I pierced　fearfully the knife a lot but the pirate doesn’t fly out more than expected.

Can you see the pirate is jumping out finally? How do you feel about his force? Of course he comes out with vigor but I wasn’t so much scared. I feel I have matured enough I couldn’t be surprised of a toy…hahaha Certainly it was so fun and exited! I remember when I was young and the pleasure with playing with toy.

Did you notice the toy that it’s not the same face to the first picture. The first one is a original toy called “Kurohige hangs by a thread”. But mine is “Torahige hangs by a thread.” There are many types of character for the toy. For example Nezuko by Demon Slayer, Doraemon, Oraf is settle in the hole of the cask waiting to fly out. They are so cute! You can try playing it!
