The Japanese style noodle called “Raman” is very famous these days. What do you imagine when you talk about ramen? The noodle with soup and some vegetables and egg on it?
I’m going to share several kinds of ramen style here.
Ramen without soup まぜそば
Have you hear about ramen without soup called “Mazesoba”? It is no soup in the bowl and you need to mix all of the ingredients when you eat. It doesn’t really any taste? Actually it’s very tasty and delicious. The sauce has already mixed with the noodles so that the noodles have strong flavor. Then some toppings like onion, roasted pork or egg give you crunchy texture and savory flavor.
Dip style Ramen つけめん
Next I’m going to share the dip style noodle called “Tsukemen” in Japanese. The noodles and the bowl of soup are served you separately so the plate of noodles has no soup and the noodles don’t have any flavor. When you eat them, you dip the noodles into the soup. The noodles wear the rich soup when you eat them. The soup is very thick and rich.
Sometimes you can choose the hot noodle or the cool noodle. It depends on the restaurant though and usually the soup is hot.
Topping
There are some toppings on the noddle in advance but you can add some toppings if you want.
I’m going to share the general toppings here.
Grilled pork ~a fatty sliced pork
Flavored egg ~a marinated boiled egg
Mennma ~ a bamboo shoot
Green onion
Dried seaweed
Bean sprout
Depends on the ramen flavor especially pork bone flavored ramen, you can add the wood ear mushroom to your order.
Side menu
There are other menu in a ramen restaurant not only the noodle. The rice goes well with ramen so much!!
Of course you can order a bowl of rice with ramen but the grilled pork on rice is very delicious. The grilled pork is for ramen topping but it also goes well with rice!!
Generally there are the pan-fried dumplings called ‘gyoza’, the fried rice and the Japanese fried chicken on the menu at the ramen restaurant.
Summary
The soup style ramens are very delicious of course but you can find these styles of ramen I shared above at the ramen restaurant in Japan. And you can taste different flavor at each restaurant. When you visit Japan, you can enjoy going to several ramen restaurant!
