Cherry blossoms reminds me of such a wonderful spring days so that I love cherry blossoms and many Japanese people may agree with me. In addition we have the cherry blossoms viewing party in spring in Japan.

The official declaration of flowering
People look forward to seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom in every early spring. Japan Meteorological Agency announces the declaration of flowering when 5 or 6 buds of cherry blossoms begin to burst. The sample cherry blossoms depend on the region but basically it’s Yoshino cherry. Japan is narrow east to west and long north to south because of that, you can enjoy viewing them earlier in south of japan than in north of japan.
Huge amount of people go to the park to see the cherry blossoms in the weekends after reporting the declaration of flowering.
The kinds of cherry blossoms
Like other countries, we have some kinds of cherry blossoms for example
Yoshino cherry ソメイヨシノ
???
Oshima sakura オオシマザクラ
The buds of Yoshino cherry
The sweets of cherry blossom season
Many pretty pink color sweets of cherry blossoms flavor are sold at the shops in Japan, like cherry blossoms flavored cakes, chocolates, cookies, race cakes, frappuccinos and more! Actually they taste sweet and a little bit salty. When you visit here in spring, I reccomend you try them!
The packages are also beautiful that are colored pale pink and dressed up with cherry blossoms pattern. I can not throw away the paper cup after drinking because it’s too much cuteness.
The cherry blossoms viewing party
As I have mentioned above, Japanese people love cherry blossoms, therefore we enjoy viewing them with friends and family under the cherry blossoms tree and eat something and drink alcohol etc. on the picnic blanket. It’s like a picnic party. We call it “Ohanami お花見. This Japanese custom is said that have been held from 1000 years ago. However it’s kind of difficult to eat and drink something with many people recently due to the current conditions of COVID-19 so that we enjoy viewing cherry blossoms with family or small group.
Do you go to the flower picnic with friends in your country? If you don’t, I recommend you to go to the cherry blossoms viewing party here once when you visit Japan! It’s beautiful and so much fun!
